Looking for live music for your?:
I'd be happy to entertain your guests ...
I play many types of music (over 500 pieces). I absolutely love to play for people.
I can provide tasteful background music or something a bit more lively and interactive.
Dinner/Cocktail Music? No problem.
Back in the day most of the finer establishments would feature a live pianist either with an in-house pianist or rotating guest pianists.
I know how to play to entertain people without interrupting their meal or their conversations. By the same token I always keep an eye on the audience/guests.
If people look like they want to interact, make a request, sing Sweet Caroline :-), or want me to wake up the old rocker in me and play something wild and fast, I always do my best to keep them happy.
Wedding Anyone? (love it)
I can provide live music for the rehearsal dinner and the ceremony. The digital keyboard I bring is capable of recreating the sounds of many different instruments including pipe organ, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds ...
I can play the "traditional" wedding music or whatever the bride chooses.
Some brides want all the traditional ) preludes, processional, recessional, interludes, postludes. Others prefer something less formal.
(more about playing weddings in the next section)
Private party? (let the fun begin)
Great! Does it have a theme? Even better! I recently played for a private birthday party with a Roaring Twenties theme at a Victorian in Stockton Springs.
The guests all dressed in period costumes as did I.
I played as the guests arrived and as they ate after which they all participated in a dinner murder-mystery (and they were having a blast).
I've dressed like Santa and played Christmas parties, or as a scary "dead piano player" for a Halloween Haunted House.
Coming to Bucksport?
You are welcome to visit my music studio in Bucksport. I could play for you (I have a lovely grand piano from Estonia and several keyboards) and discuss opportunities. I'm always adding to my repertoire and sharpening my skills.
For example, I'm working on a Name That Tune "show" in which your guests interact with me as I play snippets of tunes (and play some all the way through).
One setup involves "bingo cards" that contain song titles. The participants can purchase the cards or you can just hand them out, your choice. You can even have prizes for the "winners" (gift card, bottle of wine, etc.).
ENTERTAINMENT: My name is Frank Baxter, aka The Maine Piano Man. I'm a professional piano/organ/keyboard player based in Bucksport Maine (it's near Bangor), mostly covering Downeast and Midcoast Maine.
I play many genres of music including pieces from the 1920s to the 2020s and I love to entertain. The high end keyboard I bring has literally thousands of sounds!
Which means for your wedding ceremony I can play the pieces you've chosen and emulate the sound of ... ~ Pipe Organ ~ Piano ~ Violins and Other Strings ~ Brass / Woodwinds ~ Keyboards ~ Unusual (and interesting) sounds.
I can play your ...
Preludes (Prelude music is light, ambient music that sets the mood while guests are being seated and waiting for the ceremony to begin)
Processionals ( accompanies the entry of the extended wedding party—family, attendants and bride )
Recessionals ( At the conclusion of the ceremony, the recessional plays. As the name implies, this music accompanies you as you recess (that is, make your exit) and is traditionally bright, lively and celebratory—a reflection of your joy )
Interludes and Postludes (Many couples choose to add interludes or songs played during significant moments such as the unity candle lighting or the ketubah signing. You might also want to include a postlude, which is a selection played while guests exit the ceremony)
(the above descriptions are borrowed from theknot.com)
My playing would work best for your rehearsal dinner and your wedding ceremony. (I could also do your reception but I find most people want a band or a DJ .) That said I have played wedding receptions where the guests were older couples or older souls.
My website lists many of the over 500 pieces I play and of course I always do my best to accommodate any special request from the bride (& groom). Having a theme wedding? I'd be happy to dress the part to fit in with your theme (I've done themes such as Roaring Twenties, Halloween , Valentine's Day ... )

MUSIC QUESTIONS FOR THE WEDDING COUPLE
For weddings I usually play a mix of music that includes standards, show tunes, movies, Disney, etc.
My focus is on uplifting music, typically related to love. I’ve found that most weddings have a mix of people attending (a variety of ages and interests) so I try to play something for everyone.
Please Note: I am a musician but not an MC.
However, I’m happy to make announcements if you need/want me to, just be sure to communicate what you’re looking for ahead of time and let me know when you want me to make the announcement.
ABOUT MY PLAYING FOR YOU…
I play over 500 tunes and am always adding more.
That said I’ve found that older tunes usually work better on piano/keyboard than the newer music because some music doesn’t translate all that well from a full band/orchestra with singers to a solo piano/keyboard.
I will provide you with a master list of the pieces I play as well as a list of pieces I’ve used specifically at weddings before.
Please try to choose as much of your music from these lists as possible.
If there is specific music you want that I don’t know I will do my best to learn it for you if I have enough lead time. But please consider also choosing an alternative piece, or just realize that it isn’t going to sound the same when I play it as a piano solo compared to when it’s being performed by a full band and professional singer(s).
The questions below are for specific tunes you’d like me to play at specific times during the event (or for a special person)
It is helpful if you can provide alternate choices if possible.
· Music while guests are arriving and being seated (I usually play pretty music, typically with songs about love, show tunes, Disney, etc. I call it “positive music” for a special occassion)
· Music for Flower Girl (and/or ring bearer if needed) as they come down the “aisle”
· Entry music for the Bride
· Exit music for the Newly Married couple (and bridle party)
· Cocktail Hour Music (if there is one) I provide a pretty wide mix but if you have specifics you’d like, let me know.
· Dinner Music – Again I usually play a wide mix. Keep in mind at this point most people are eating and chatting.
· Any special music requests (ex: Brides grandmother’s favorite, or something to be funny, or as a tribute to someone here in spirit … )
If the venue you’re hosting your wedding at is close by I’d like to see it to check out setup details I’ll need, if it’s not close enough, good pictures and descriptions would help …
· Where I’ll be setting Up (and what entrance to use to bring my equipment in)
· Where I need to park after off loading my equipment
· Access to electric outlets
· Canopy/cover if it is being held outside (and what are the contingency plans if mother nature doesn’t cooperate?)
And always keep in mind, it’s your special day and the matter what at the end of the day you will be married to your sweetheart and that’s the most important thing to remember!
CONGRATULATIONS!
I had the pleasure of playing for a private Roaring Twenties themed birthday party here recently.
Belvedere House and Gardens is a beautiful venue located in Stockton Springs Maine.
The owners are as nice as they come and they take great pride in their beautiful Victorian house full of gorgeous antiques along with amazing grounds and gardens.
Keep them in mind for your next event, party, wedding , etc.
And keep me in mind if you'd like live piano/keyboard music.
PDF is a list of the songs I play. Keep in mind I'm always adding new pieces.
I always enjoy playing here.
Located right on Alamoosook Lake in Orland Maine.
Beautiful views, great food, nice people run the place.
Mr. Baxter is a very talented and professional musician. He played a wonderful selection of music that included pieces for everyone's musical tastes from classical to more up beat tunes. His music was truly enjoyed by everyone here at the Senior Center. We would welcome him back anytime.

And yes, while the weather was ornery, there is no arguing that the evening was beautiful overall, even with the rain -- as evidenced by that glorious rainbow. We enjoyed watching it for quite a while. I hope your trip home was easy and uneventful.
Attached are a few photos I took of the event.
Again, thank you for being a part of the garden party!
